I received my Bachelors of Arts in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University in 2005. In 2017, I graduated with a Masters in Secondary Education with a Reading Specialist Certification through the University of Alabama.
Experience
For the last twelve years, I have taught high school English in Chesapeake. During this time, I not only teach, but I have tutored outside of school. Subjects have included reading skills, writing, skills, and specific activities required for classes. As a reading specialist, I am also capable of helping students of all ages strengthen their reading skills. Recently, I have worked with first graders and currently work with fourth and fifth graders. I want to tutor students to help them achieve their educational goals and build their self-esteem. Each child has a unique set of skills and talents. It's my role and passion to encourage and build upon those talents while broadening their realm of knowledge and skills.

Hobbies
Other than being mommy and wife, my hobbies and interests are various. I enjoy reading the latest comics and novels while sitting in my favorite comfy chair at my local coffee shop. I love music of all sorts and catching local bands on the weekends. When the weather is nice, you'll find me ocean kayaking or canoeing. During the summer I enjoy attending Tides or Nationals games. In the fall, I'm cheering for the Alabama Tide football team. All in all, my goal is to embrace every moment of every day. It's cliche, but today is the present for a reason. Even if it's not the best day, there is still something good about it. You might just have to look from a different angle.
